माझी काही काळा पासून क्षय रोग इस्पितळात नियुक्ती झाली आहे. १९९०
च्या प्रारंभी मी इथल्या
शल्यविभागात काही काळ होतो, त्यामुळे पुन्हा आपल्या च घरी परतलो
असे वाटत आहे. अनेक जुन्या
मित्रांची पुन्हांभेटी. अनेक मित्र व नातेवाईक मंडळींचा प्रेमळ
सल्ला कश्याला चाललायेस तिथे.
माझा इथे किती मुक्काम आहे माहीत नाही, पण अद्यश्या सारखा तेथे
असलेले ज्ञान मिळवता येईल ते
मिळविण्यासाठी माझी धडपड असते. अनंत प्रकारचे एक्स रे, सी टी
स्कॅन, एल पी ऐ रिपोर्ट्स, विविध
प्रकारच्या उपचार पद्धती, इथले सर्व वैद्यकीय अधिकारी, विशेष तज्ञा
डॉ. अल्फा , डॉ. खत्री व इतर
त्यांचे बहुमूल्य उपचार पद्धती या साऱ्या नि भारून गेलेले
परिस्थितिकी व सतत क्षयरोगाच्या
जँतूच्या अनंत राहिवासाचे भयंकर भय न सँपणारे. डॉ. राजेंद्र ननावरे
माझा वर्गमित्र गेली अनेक
वर्षे इथे नोकरीला होता व वैद्यकीय अधीक्षक होऊन निवृत्तीनंतर इथे
विषेश विभाग चालवीत आहे. मी
इथे यावे असे त्यालाही वाटत होते. परवा डॉ.ननावरे व मी जि टी बी
वरून के इ एम पर्यन्त चालत गेलो
, तेव्हा मी कुतूहलाने म्हटले , पहा ह्या दिड किलोमीटर अंतरात
जेवढया वैद्यकीय सुविधा उपलब्ध
आहेत तेवढया जगाच्या पाठीवर कुठेही नसतील.
आज , एक वरश्या पूर्वी इथे टी बी च्या नूतन औषधे पुरवठा करणारा खास
विभाग सुरू झाला, त्याचे
आश्वासक परिणाम दिसत आहेत. एका बाजूस क्षय रोगाचा प्रादुर्भाव
दिसून येत आहेत तर दुसऱ्या बाजूने
या इथे सर्वांची प्रचंड बांधिलकी ने चाललेले निस्वार्थी प्रयत्न
सुरू दिसत आहेत.
इथे कार्यरत असलेल्या लोकांची नावे जगाला माहीत नसतील पण त्यांचे
अथक प्रयत्न नक्की विस्मयकारक
आहेत, अश्याच एका प्रयत्नात मी साक्ष व आता त्यात मी सामील आहे
याचे समाधान लाभत आहे.
आज वरील बाह्य विभाग सुरू झाल्याला एक वर्ष पूर्ण होत आहे.

god. Dr. Nanavare is also one of the amongst those who treat

compassion and don't treat patient as scapegoat to earn money. I

patient by exploiting them during Covid 19. But Dr. Nanavare was

घेणं अत्यन्त अवघड गोष्ट आहे. त्यांनी शिवडी येथील महापालिका
रुग्णालयात 30 वर्षाहून जास्त काळ
गोरगरीब जनतेची सेवा करून क्षयरोग निर्मूलनाचे अविस्मरणीय असे महान
काम
केले. मुळात त्या ठिकाणी काम करणेस कोणी तयार नसतात. मुळात हे
धाडसी पाऊल घेऊन त्यांनी उदयनमुख
डॉक्टर यांचेपुढे एक आदर्श ठेवला असे मानावे लागेल. खाजगी
प्रॅक्टिस करून त्यांनी अफाट पैसा
कमविला असता परंतु तसे न करता त्यांनी आपले
संपूर्ण आयुष्य क्षयरोगाचे निर्मूलन होणे करिता वाहून घेतले.
त्याबाबत त्यांचा शासनाने यथोचित
गुणगौरव करावा हीच आमची मनोभावना आहे. आजही तें मुंबईतील बकाल
झोपडपट्टी परिसरात आपली वैद्यकीय
सेवा बजावतात हे गौरास्पद आहे. त्यांचे अखंड
