Mumbai, 13 August 2026:Senior Chest Physician, Pulmonologist and Tuberculosis Specialist Dr. Rajendra Tatu Nanavare, Mumbai, has been selected for the prestigious Fellowship of the Indian Medical Association – Academy of Medical Specialities (IMA AMS) at the national level. His nomination for the Fellowship has been formally approved by the IMA Academy of Medical Specialities Headquarters.The Fellowship will be conferred upon Dr. Nanavare during the IMA AMS National Convocation on 5 September 2026 – National Teachers’ Day, at Karnataka Medical College & Research Institute (KMCRI), Hubballi, Karnataka, as part of AMSCON-2026, the Annual National Conference of the IMA Academy of Medical Specialities.Dr. Nanavare is a senior Chest Physician, Pulmonologist and Tuberculosis Specialist with nearly four decades of clinical, administrative, teaching, research and public-health experience. He has rendered long-standing service at the Group of TB Hospitals, Sewri, Mumbai, including in the leadership position of Medical Superintendent.During his professional career, Dr. Nanavare has contributed extensively to tuberculosis control, drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB), Bedaquiline-based treatment, infection prevention and control, prevention of tuberculosis among healthcare workers, clinical research and medical education. His work has combined clinical service with institutional initiatives and community-oriented public-health awareness.He has also completed a Fellowship in Pulmonology. His academic profile includes 40+ research publications, scientific presentations at national and international conferences, medical and academic books, and extensive participation in CME programmes, professional lectures and health-awareness activities.Dr. Nanavare has received several recognitions for his contribution to medicine and academics. He was honoured as IMA HQ Honorary Professor in 2022 and received the “Best Academician of the Year – 2023” award from IMA Maharashtra State.
